I know how important your career or business is to you. You want to give your all and taking a break seems like you’re slacking.
Every once in a while, we all take a shorter break, work late to finish a project, and skip the social stuff just to finish whatever it is that we need done.
Having a strong work ethic is very important, however, you need to know when you need a break. A break doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It should be something that helps more than hinders.
There are a million reasons why you need to learn to embrace taking breaks. Here’s some of the most pressing ones:
Burn-out
If you continuously work without a break, you will over work yourself. You’ll feel stressed out, tired, and not able to complete your tasks. Especially if you have a lot going on in your personal life (kids, house, friendships, relationships). Trying to balance it all without taking any time for yourself will lead to you not being able to help anyone.
Set a work schedule, so you have clear times when you’re working and clear times when you aren’t. With a flexible schedule, you allow yourself to work whenever even when you probably shouldn’t be. Make the most important tasks come first, while the rest can wait.

Happy You = More Productive
Taking a break, whether it be an hour or a week vacation, helps you clear your mind and de-stress. We can’t be on constant work mode all the time. Our brains need some time to refresh. I’ve noticed that a lot of my great ideas about work come from when I’m not there stressing out about what ideas I need to come up with.
Allow yourself to take an hour break or short 10 minute breaks after long periods of productivity. Have a snack, talk a walk, go do something fun, or anything that can take your mind off of work.
You Deserve a Break
At the end of the day, the best reason to take a break is because you deserve it! You’ve been working hard and need a reward. Don’t feel like you don’t deserve peace because you really do! Women especially take on so much. Careers, family, plus helping everyone else.
Take a day to yourself to just relax at home doing what you like to do. Travel to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. Do something for yourself. Trust me, you will thank you later. Celebrate your accomplishments by doing something just for you.
